ROBUST CARTRIDGE CONSTRUCTION Imation’s proprietary patented corner snap keeps the leader pin in place and the cartridge tightly closed. This prevents error-causing debris from entering the cartridge in the event the tape cartridge is dropped. Our patented three-piece tape spool design distributes stress evenly over the tape compared to two-piece spools. This construction keeps the tape flat, protecting data for longer archival life.

PARTITIONING Now available in Ultrium LTO 5 tape cartridges is a new partitioning functionality which allows users to see what information is stored on the tape. This feature enables nearline applications to index data and allows for faster search results via enhanced file control and space management, addressing the growing needs of the marketplace.

EXCEPTIONAL PERFORMANCE AND QUALITY Imation introduced the first servo-written tape cartridge more than 10 years ago and continues to improve the technology. Advanced servo-writing allows closer track spacing and more data, while keeping drive heads aligned on the data tracks for precise data reading/writing and improved reliability.

SECURITY AND PROTECTION The Ultrium LTO 5 cartridge is the second generation to offer hardware-based 256-bit data encryption, providing the highest level of security without the loss of performance, WORM (Write-Once, Read-Many) cartridges are also available.
